Que séra, séra

A couple of experimental platters bit the dust this week in the bisque fire. They were slab built with asymmetrically turned faces approximately 22” dia. x 3/4”.

I was going for a wafer thin profile with some heavy texture. Not certain, but I think that the textured rim was too heavy for the center which caused it to warp and crack.

Or perhaps it was just too thick. I turned one platter with a double foot ring and the other with a single. But both cracked. The smaller platters survived so perhaps there will be a clue there as to the cause.

😦
